I love pleasant surprises, just as this one when I typed the following phrase
into Google
moded definition
and got this
- Embarassingly WRONG. “You are SO moded right now.” or simply “Moded!” (meaning You are moded!)
Priceless! LOL

I just got back from watching Star Wars: Episode III not too long ago, and
I can’t stop thinking about it. What a great way to end a series (or shall
I also say begin a series?), but it’s also quite sad to know that there
are no more Star Wars films to look forward to. Anyhoo, it left me wanting
more.
Here are some random thoughts:
- Yoda, as usual, steals the show on this one. Yeah, he’s sporting a
lightsaber again and performs the same Jedi acrobatics as he did in the
previous film, but what I love most about him in this movie is the great
human-ness he shows. In particular, during the sequence when the Jedis
are systematically being eliminated, the pain in his face really tugged
at my heart strings. Funny that a computer animated character can do that.
- Given that, Yoda also is DA MAN. I luuuurved how he took out two red Imperial
guards with a simple motion of his arm. AWESOME!
- After his defeat from the Emperor, Yoda’s rescue reminds me of Luke’s from
Empire Strikes Back after he faced Vader.
- The scene where Anakin must choose between Light and Dark completely mirrors
that from Jedi, complete with a flurry of that blue, electrical dark side
energy. Nice touch, as it makes Vader’s decision in Jedi to choose his son
over the Emperor (my absolute favorite Star Wars moment!) even more
poignant.
- There’s a scene when Yoda leaves the Wookie planet, which reminds me a lot
of E.T. entering his spaceship to finally go home. From the egg-shaped
ship, to how the “door” closes in that spirally kinda way…. I wonder if
it was a homage to his pal Spielberg (as Spielberg did when he had someone
in a Yoda costume walking around in the Halloween scene).
All in all, a fun experience. I wanna see it again!

Oh god. My brother and I used to love to go to lunch or dinner and indulge in
our favorite foods and desserts. We both really appreciated (and still do)
appreciate good food, and we would often gush about the food we were eating
AS we were eating them.
One thing we didn’t like seeing was people dining alone. We always felt sorry
for people who ate alone, because I guess we both believed that food,
especially good food, needed to be shared with someone else. Watching people
eat by themselves always seemed like such a lonely experience. My brother and
I, when spotting one of these Eleanor Rigbys, would often look at each other,
our eyebrows wrinkled, eyes somewhat droopy, and our lips would mouth “aaaw.”
Anyhoo, I was reminded by all this when cilibrar showed me
cryingwhileeating.com. I’m pretty sure all
of these are fake, but a couple of them are pretty believable. Check out
Christy and Estee, both funny but sad at the same time.

Wow, I’ve never seen such an extreme case of avoidance from such a seemingly
normal person before than that of Jennifer
Wilbanks.
Here’s a woman, who was under such great stress over looming wedding nuptuals,
with 600 friends and family on the guestlist, 14 bridesmaids and 14 groomsmen,
that she disappeared without a trace from Georgia 5 days before the ceremony
and resurfaced 5 days later claiming she was kidnapped by a Hispanic man and
white woman who abandoned her in New Mexico. And during this time, hundreds of
volunteers scoured her hometown looking for her, including 100 policemen who
led the search parties, her fiance underwent a polygraph test because
(especially after the Scott Peterson case) he looked like a prime suspect, and
there was even a $100,000 reward offered for information regarding her
whereabouts. The whole town was also planning to transform the wedding
ceremony into a candlelight vigil. And let’s not forget the hours of worrying
by her parents and her fiance. All that, because why? SHE GOT COLD FEET!
Very weird to me. Hadn’t she ever seen Sound of Music and Mother Superior’s
speech to Maria about how you’re not supposed to run away from your problems
but face them? Obviously not.
It’s one thing to call off your wedding if you’re having second thoughts,
but to actually go through the whole process of fabricating a story about being
kidnapped just so folks don’t get mad at or disappointed in you is way out of
control. Rightfully so, the whole town is feeling pretty pissed at her,
because obviously she acted and reacted in a very selfish way, having caused
everybody much unnecessary worry.
I wonder about this woman’s psychology. I mean, sometimes when I’m invited to
a party, I won’t feel like showing up because I just don’t feel like dealing
with the social pressures of meeting new people, thinking of interesting
conversation topics, etc. But I would NEVER stand anyone up who’s expecting me
to be there. That’s just plain rude.
But this woman, who seemed well liked (600 guests at the wedding kind of
implies that), who seemed to care for others and be dependable as well (being a
nurse and all), stood up an entire community. Did she have so little
self-esteem that she couldn’t even fathom telling her fiance she had second
thoughts? Could she not face her parents who had probably spent thousands on
wedding preparations for fear of disappointing them? Or is this woman just
plain looney? Hard to say. But wow, so much damage done. Who can trust her
anymore? Will her fiance dump her? Her life has changed completely, and
everyone’s perception of her has now veered towards the negative, just because
she had a panic attack and couldn’t face the music.
